We are a small family business that strives for ecological and responsible management of our forests.
We are engaged in buying and cutting logs, production of wood products and production of pellets.
Branko Ambrožič started his long-term entrepreneurial journey with car haulage in 1979.
He eventually abandoned this activity. He started his craft business in 1984.
The beginnings were modest; he had a workshop in his home garage. With the first smaller lathe, he made simple semi-finished products: hand tools and other turned semi-finished products.
In 1987 we managed to penetrate the demanding German market, being among the first exporters at that time. With quality products and successful business, new opportunities for development and earnings have been offered to us. Competition in the foreign market was unrelenting, so we were forced to buy newer and more powerful machines that enabled us to produce more technologically advanced products.
With the hard work of all family members and employees, the implementation of innovative ideas and the investment in continuous development, our company has been able to expand. In order to produce quality and competitive products, we needed more space. In 2001, we were offered a good business opportunity to buy a production plant and a saw mill from Jelovica to Sovodnje. After making a good decision, we realized that we could implement our business ideas at this location. Deciding on such an investment was not easy. Despite a large financial contribution for a small family business and an uncertain future, our decision proved successful.
With quality products and business determination, we have penetrated very demanding markets in the European Union.
The market share of exports of products to foreign markets reaches about 84% of the business.
Being an eco-conscious company, we process residues from wood briquettes, pellets and wood chips for biomass heating.
We have also obtained an FSC certification that confirms our high ecological awareness and responsible management of our forests.
The company ranks as a small family-owned company with 14 employees. Son and daughter opened their own business 3 years ago and continue the family tradition. Simon successfully passed the master’s examination at the Chamber of Crafts of Slovenia. That is why we can accept students who are educated in the profession of carpenter and scholarships. They can also undergo compulsory hands-on training under professional mentoring.
In 2007, we completed a long-standing project to build our own small hydropower plant in Hobovščica, which has been operating successfully since the end of 2008.
We abandoned production at home and moved it completely to a new location in 2002. We acquired a large number of production facilities, a paint shop and our own saw for cutting logs.
New production facilities have also enabled us to produce finished products. We have been attracting new customers and successfully expanding in an increasingly challenging market. The production program of the company includes the production of: various turned elements, handles, cots, knives, cutting boards, chairs … 95% of all products we produce are solid wood. When it comes to surface protection of wood, we try to eliminate dyes and varnishes as much as possible and replace them with greener oil. With quality products and business excellence, we have penetrated very demanding markets in the European Union. The market share of exports of products to foreign markets already reaches about 84% of business.
